A French 19th century Empire style chair in mahogany with brass laurel wreaths, with brass anthemion mounts below brass rosetts at the top of the tapering front leks, down to brass feet with outswept legs to the backs.

The chair is in very good condition for its age, is firm and comfortable and is ready to go straight into a home.

The Empire style, which takes its name from the First Empire overseen by Napoleon Bonaparte, is and early 19th century design movement in the decorative arts and the visual arts that flourished between 1800 and 1815 during the Consulate and the First French Empire periods.
